A pituitary microadenoma is a benign tumor of the pituitary gland (hypophysis) that is smaller than 10 mm. It is often discovered incidentally, as it usually does not cause any symptoms.

If it produces hormones, it can lead to symptoms such as menstrual irregularities, milk discharge from the breast (prolactinoma), Cushing’s syndrome (overproduction of cortisol), or acromegaly (excessive growth of bones and soft tissues).
